- I am most looking forward to not having 8 and 9 o'clock classes. I hate getting up so early. Especially since I like to do most of my studying late at night. I much more of a night person than and early bird, so getting up at 10 instead of seven will be really nice.
- Don't start studying the night before for your lecture exams. It's really importand to know and understand the material, not just memorize it. And make LOTS of friends, not just the people you came with. It's nice to know people, but don't be shy. And have fun:]

Right now I am most stressed out with Anatomy and Medical Term. Medical Term is an online class that you have weekly quizes, but you do them on your own time. I was busy with other things in the beginning and i'm a little behind. I've started to catch up but i'm still 3 or 4 behind. And i'm just stressed to see my overall grade for anatomy.
The only way my body reacts to stress is headaches. Although, I have been getting them for over a year, when stress comes around they just get progressively worse, and there's not much I can do about them.
I mainly turn to my mom or my boyfriend when i'm stressed. My mom tries to tell me how to handle it and my boyfriend just listens to me vent.

What do you have in common (academically, personally, etc..) with the classmate whose Blog you chose?
The person's blog I commented on do have a little bit in common. But mostly school wise. Like her, we have have troubles setting aside time to study. When I actually sit down and study, I make a lot of progress. It's just actually getting to that point.
Did s/he offer any useful information you will most likely use in the future?
Not really, we both had the same issue, and you kind of commented on it letting us know how to fix it.

What do you feel this course (UN100) should focus on? What do you need help in, specifically?
- I was told going into this class, that it was going to be mainly a study class. That there were few requirements, but mainly just a study hall and if you had questions about classes or your major this would be the class to figure that out. I feel this class should focus more on making sure we get through our first semester successfully, and helping to make sure our work is completed, not giving us more. The most homework i've had so far comes from this class. I tihnk i specifically need help in making sure I leave myself enought time to get all my work done so come wednesday night I'm not cramming and up till 2 in the morning studying for anatomy plus trying to get all of the projects done for freshman seminar.
Finally - Do you feel as if there is any healthy fast food available to consumers? If so, where and why? Give specific examples of products.. Please be honest and support your opinions. For example, I feel that Subway's Veggie Sub is healthy due to its freshly-cut produce, cheese, and "fresh-baked" breads. I actually talked to a friend who works at Subway and he said in MQT, they slice their own produce. (My fear was that it arrived pre-sliced and filled with preservatives). It's not organic, but it's a start.
- I believe Subway has healthy foood. Don't get me wrong, you still can get unhealthy food there, but you can just as easily eat a healthy meal if you want to. They have wheat bread if you want to choose a healthier bread, turkey vs. ham, provolone cheese vs. american, and several different kinds of vegetables. Subway is one of the many fast food restaurants that can be healthy

Ø Describe your ideal Instructor/Professor.
..* An instuctor that teaches you not just through lecture, but through activities. But not too many activities, you feel like you're in a CAP class again. Someone who doesn't give a ton of homework, but enought to keep you busy. A professor who give a ton a hw tends to be not liked very well by the students.
Ø “I knew it when I studied it, but I forgot it on the test.” How can students study differently to prevent this from happening?
..* I find if I study the night before tests I do better. Not the day of. When you fall asleep your brain goes through everything it's learned that day. Cramming is not the best strategy.
Ø How do you study for quizzes/tests?
..* Look over the material and quiz myself or have other people quiz me.
Ø What do you have trouble with on quizzes/tests?
..* Short answer or giving definitions

Ø List your own quote, favorite saying, song, or other expression of your feelings today.
-If you believe it, you can achieve it.
Ø List initial observations of your new environment.
- I really like being on my own, but if I get home sick I'm not that far away. I just wish the courtyard was closer to my dorm. Winter will be brutal.
Ø List initial observations of your classes.
- The only one I think will be a challenge is Froiland. I like all mt others for the most part
Ø What observations have you made about other students?
- They seem like the have the same thoughts as me, they're new and want to make new friends.
Ø About your instructors?Ø What do you think will be your biggest challenge(s) academically this semester?
- I like most of my instructors. My biggest challege will for sure be Anatomy
Ø Reiterate a term or concept you learned in Anatomy this week.
- Connective and Epithelial tissues are opposites. We've learned a lot about those.
Ø List a few pleasant events that happened during your first weeks at NMU.
- I've met my suitemates, and they're really nice, the boys down the hall are really cool and classes went by super fast.
Ø List habits you already possess that make you successful in college.
- I make sure I give myself enough time to study and still get to bed at a decent time. I get up earlier the mornings I have Froiland so i'm awake for his class.
Ø List habits (timewasters?) you can change or modify, or need to lose.
- Being on facebook, and not studying enough for anatomy.
Ø Explain how you determine what to write down in notes during lectures.
- I ususally write in my own words, I understand it way better when I'm studying.
Ø Based on your first readings in the TCB text, describe the differences between Active Learning & Passive Learning (reading, note-taking, etc..)
- Passive learners are people who can listen and soak up the information, where active learners are those who has to do it, write it and see it to understand.
Ø Based on your first readings in the BT text, list TWO of favorite quotes and explain why they "speak" to you.
- "Read it...write it...summarize it" I know this is what I NEED to do for Froiland's class. It will help me understand a lot better. "You have to read..read..read.. and comprehend! There's no lectures to explain concepts...you're on your own." This really lets me know I don't have someone to tell me what I have to know for tmrw, I just need to do it on my own.
Ø Finally, name one goal (personal, academic, etc..) you have for yourself next week.
- I have my first anatomy quiz next week. So my goal would be to get at least a B on it.
